Last week, our attention was drawn to this recent article in The Guardian , challenging teachers to try new ways of promoting a Growth Mindset in their students. The link with Doug Lemov’s culture of error was explored in last week’s blog post and having discussed Growth Mindset as a whole school last year, it is time to re-visit this area to see how far we have come.
- As a refresher on the theory, Alex Quigley’s The Confident Teacher website is an excellent place to start.
- Some may prefer to hear it from Carol Dweck herself in her popular TED talk.
- Searching by Category on this very site also throws up several blog posts written on this topic over the past couple of years – Caroline Towns’ posters are well worth a second look!
Our next challenge is to meet as departments to discuss the day-to-day strategies that make a difference for us.
We will report back on next week’s blog!
